Before starting this internship, I struggled with knowing and deciding what my interest were in colleges and my career. At the end of my internship I am still not 100% but have a better idea of what I'd like to do. This experience gave me more of a career understanding rather than college though. From the 2 weeks I spent in sales I found it very interesting and enjoyable. Pursuing a career in that department I can see as an option for the future. I did not get too spend any time in marketing but before starting this internship I already had an interest in marketing. When I do my other internship wether it is at Nixon or somewhere else, I'd like to do it in Marketing for a portion.

The projects I did were more mini projects then a project that took me all 4 weeks. The mini projects would take 2 days at least and I would often be doing something else at the same time as well. I felt the projects I were doing had meaning in that I was helping out my mentors. It wasn't just for me too develop skills from but also to help my mentor in their job. When my mentors would get task like the ones I did, which are creating an archives log of their watches or checking inventory for clients that want a specific bag or watch, it would stop them from doing their main work which is very important. So I was helping them in their own work while still learning valuable skills.
All of my projects had that hands on feel to it but I was still using a computer. A lot of it depended on my organizational skills and how I presented things. The process was not challenging but more time exhausting and felt like it was never ending. That does not mean I did not enjoy it because I did, but at some points the projects felt like they were going forever. How did you make a meaningful contribution to your workplace? The work I have done at my internship is meaningful in many different ways. I created a log for all the watches in archive for each box. If someone wanted a watch or product in archives, they now don't have to look through every box searching for it. All they would need to do is check the spreadsheet and find the watch on the list. Basically the work was simplifying and adding organization to their archives which is a meaningful contribution. Also helping my different mentors personally with their work is meaningful to the workplace and to my mentor. How was your work significant or meaningful to the world beyond school and your specific internship site? Learning how a job space functions and about different products will help me in what I want to do for my career in the future. Also interning in a place that deals a lot with clothing would help if I ever wanted to get a job at a retail store. I have used a lot of Excel too and from what they tell me it is used frequently at companies so being experienced in that is something that is significant. Part 2: How did your view of life beyond high school change or develop during your time as an intern? It made me realize that it gets better. Not that high school isn't fun but the departments I interned in and the place I interned at are things I actually like. There are subjects in school that I don't find that interesting. As long as I work at a place that interest me and that I enjoy, I'll be happy. How might internship influence the direction of your life? Before this internship I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career or what to major in. After this internship I know that I want to work for a company like this and work in one of the departments that are similar to this. This internship has heavily influenced my direction in life which makes me excited for the future.
I am not following any protocol for my internship. For me personally that is how I prefer to do it and I think it is working very well. I get compliments on how hard I am working all the time. Following a protocol would only add more pressure and stress which would effect me in my workplace. I am comfortable with how I do things currently 1. What you plan on doing/creating.
For my final presentation I will be explaining two different projects on both the departments I was in for the four weeks. Talking about the skills I have acquired throughout this internship. Also just explaining all the different mini projects I have done too. Going over in detail the assignments that took a few days and how I completed the task. 2. What skills you will need in order for it to be awesome. Mainly just practising presentation skills which are already good because of the amount of presentations I have done. Also possibly having some visuals as evidence of my work that I have done. 3. What support you will need, and who you will need it from. I do not think I need any support, this presentation is independent and mine to lead. The preparation work would make most sense if I do it alone. Questions about your mentor
Questions about the organization
Questions about this career
A good final question
Part 2) Internship Reflection
It is very relaxed and lay'd back which is a huge plus. It is not so stressful and is something I know I am capable of doing. Also it is something that I have interest in and could see myself doing as a career.
